A brief history of the Charity.

The charity was set up in 1992 to administer the running of the stadium which was completed in 1995. The stadium was the 'home' of English Hockey for ten years and was the venue for many memorable National and International events. It was until 2009 the location of the headquarters of the sport's governing body - England Hockey. Many players will recall the enjoyment and excitement of playing at the stadium and representing their clubs,schools or country in some important fixture and the many volunteers who supported those events will remember the camaraderie and friendship experienced as a result of their participation. After extensive deliberations, the Trustees of The National Hockey Foundation concluded that the sale of the stadium was the only viable alternative following its cessation of use for hockey. The lease on The National Hockey Stadium at Milton Keynes was sold during 2007. The Foundation's principle remit now is to administer the substantial funds resulting from that sale for the benefit of sport in general and hockey in particular.
